We are thrilled to bring step-by-step quilting education to you VIRTUALLY during Then Came June’s Campfire Glow Sew-Along February 15–March 22! Prizes are awarded each week of the SAL, including a GRAND PRIZE Bernette Academy 05 sewing machine from Modern Domestic! 

In this 6-week virtual class we will dive into basic cutting techniques, piecing, and how to create accurate and consistent 1/4" seam allowances. The main goal of this course is to complete the top of your quilt during class time and weekly homework. We will also touch on basting, quilting, and binding – however these steps will not be completed in class.

Each zoom session will have a lecture/demo introduction. The second half of each session will be time to sew and work on our quilt tops together. This is a great time to ask questions and gain quilting confidence with an instructor guiding you through it.

Our first session on February 15 will go over picking fabrics for your quilt. Week 2 (Feb 22) is when we will begin cutting fabric. Please have supplies ready by February 22.

About the Quilt: The Campfire Glow Quilt Pattern uses two traditional blocks, the 9-Patch and Sawtooth Star, to create a fun modern quilt. This is the perfect pattern for a newer quilter or for a seasoned quilter trying to find inspiration again!
The pattern requires yardage for the Modern Solid version. For the stash buster the pattern provides multiple fabric cut options. Material requirements on second image.

This virtual class will follow along with Then Came June’s 6-week Sew-Along (SAL) to make this quilt top.

Supply List: All supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic.
- Then Came June Campfire Glow pattern
- Quilting cotton — Yardage required on pattern for desired size. The pattern requires yardage depending on sizes. Material requirements on second image. Throw size kits available!
- Thread: Large Mettler Metrosene
- Your own sewing machine to work from home during zoom class & homework

- Cutting tools: Rotary Cutter, 6x24" Ruler, and a self-healing cutting mat (at least 24" wide).

What is a Beginner-level virtual class at Modern Domestic?
Using and understanding your own sewing machine is required for this virtual class. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with growing your confidence. This beginner virtual class will require some weekly homework to complete outside of class time. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
